PUBLIC SERVANTS IN LAGOS HAVE BEEN URGED TO TACKLE CHALLENGES FACED AT WORK WITH A GROWTH MINDSET

The State Government has urged Public Servants in the State to tackle challenges faced at work and daily life with a Growth Mindset by ensuring that solutions are proffered to these challenges.

Speaking at the Day-2 of the two-day train- the –trainers programme for the pioneer set of Public Servants in the State, organized by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, the Director General, (OTCI), Mr. Toba Otusanya, ably represented by the Deputy Director, Creativity and Innovation, Mrs. Toyin Anjous Ademuyiwa said in order to have the kind of mindset befitting of a Model Megacity and an emerging Smart City like Lagos, there was need to train Public Servants in the State to start thinking and doing things from the perspective of a Growth Mindset.

According to the DG, the need to garner efforts towards taking the State to greater heights through positive attitudinal change from all Public Servants and ensuring they apply and propagate  the growth mindset at their various MDAs cannot be over-emphasized,

He therefore challenged them to always believe there is no limit to their abilities by making a conscious and deliberate effort to always attempt things, and be willing to know more.

“Your ability cannot do much for you if you don’t make conscious decision to say to yourself that you can change the story of your life and how it ends”, he added.

Participants were encouraged to be versatile and put in more effort at work as it would propel them to achieve more; adding that 65% of our success at work is dependent on the effort put into it, while 35% is based on the ability.

The high point of the training was the presentation of certificates of attendance to the participants who were willing and enthusiastic to go back to their various MDAs to impart the knowledge and propagate the Growth Mindset to their colleagues.
